The Regional Council of Etelä-Savo is a public authority responsible for the general development of the region of Etelä-Savo/Southern Savo.

As a regional planning authority the Regional Council also manages physical planning within its territory.

Last but not least the Regional Council provides a platform for working out the common will of the region, acts as an agent for economic development and promotes the general interest of the region at a national level in a number of ways.
